Special Session "Design for Soft Robotics"
Soft robots are robotic systems with purposefully design compliant element embedded into their mechanical structure, which takes inspiration from nature and biological systems. By exploiting the compliance of their body, they exhibit improved performances in terms of remote access in cluttered and constrained environments, intrinsic safety in human-robot interaction, task execution by exploiting the environmental constraints. This special session is devoted to design aspects of bioinspired soft robots, with applications related to manufacturing, agri-food, healthcare, inspection and maintenance, service.
Main topics of interests:
- Design and prototyping of bioinspired soft robots
- Design optimization of bioinspired soft robots
- Soft sensing
- Soft actuators and stiffening mechanisms
- Modeling and model-based control of soft robots
- Co-design of morphology and control
- Human-soft robot interaction
